Money Pit Monday
I thought you might like to see some dining room pictures.
We've been searching for a dining room rug since we moved in almost a year ago. It's very difficult to find a rug when you know that you're buying for a room that will be completely done over in the future. You have to find something that goes with what you have now, and goes with what your future vision is. Once we found the rug and got it here, it got us motivated to do a lot more with this room. We took down the previous owners curtains, washed the grampa grey wallpaper, and finally hung some pictures in here. It's not half bad now.
Ironically, I didn't want to have anyone over to dinner with the room in the pitiful condition it was in before... but now that I like the room (largely because of the rug), I'm paranoid to have dinners in here for fear of spilling something on the rug. I know the rug will be christened eventually, and I didn't want to turn into Raymond's mother with the vinyl slipcover on the couch (or rug, in this case), so I just jumped in and planned for us to have a family dinner party here last night.... with spaghetti sauce and red wine to drink, no less!
It was great to have people over for dinner again! I don't think that a house really feels like a home until you have people over for dinner.... it's like you need those memories there, to make it feel like home.
