Shoalwater
Last week I organized all of my yarn and knitting/spinning supplies. What a chore. It's been nagging at me for some time. I'm an organized person in general, but this move (how long can I use a move that happened over a year ago as an excuse?) has made a mess of what was once very neat and tidy.
I find it very frustrating, that you can have your house perfectly organized, and then move, and you are a mess. Nothing from the old house fits into the new house. Closets change, bins that once fit neatly on a storage room shelf do not fit now, stuff we once used is no longer needed in the new house and needs to be thrifted.... and on and on. I feel like I am back at square one.
Looking through all of the yarn (more than I remembered), and unfinished projects (less than I thought I had), has made me decide to go on a yarn (and fleece) diet, and finish up some UFO's.
I can also see my progression as a fiber addict in these bins.... very old crochet projects left unfinished (baby blanket started when I was pregnant 14 years ago), novelty yarns (lots) that hold no appeal for me now, sock yarns (love the yarns and the idea of making them, but don't care for the process), vintage yarn purchased at yard sales (by an oh so excited new knitter... now what will I do with 30 skeins of mohair?), colorful balls of Cascade scraps (granny-square afghan in my future?), bags of roving from local farms (my latest addition to fiber addiction), and the list goes on. I may try to have a blog tag sale this summer.
Look at this old friend that I found....

I remember the day I bought the yarn and the pattern. I was at The Studio in Kansas City, with my friend Judy. We fell in love with the gorgeous colors and softness of Malabrigo yarn. She bought the vareigated blues, and I bought the pinks, and we nicknamed the yarn "butta". Judy knit her shawl up in no time, and here I am, years later, digging mine out of a bin.

The shawl is beautiful- hope you finish so we can see it.
Your bed is so pretty - the bed, the linens...so restful!
Well, you have a much better start on your shawl than I have on the one I started last fall! I'm about ready to frog it since I've decided that lace knitting is not really for me. And if you want to pack up your sock yarn and send it to me, feel free!
